1. Greenhouse effect:
Gases trap heat inside Earth's atmosphere.
2. Three main climate zones:
Tropical zone: near equator; receives direct of nearly direct sunlight year-round, climate is almost always warm.
Polar zone: near Norht and South poles; receive the sun's rays at a low angle, climate is cold.
Temperate zone: between the other two zones; receive sunlight at changing angles during the year, climate ranges from hor to cold.
3. Main factors that determine Earth's climate:
Trapping of heat by the atmosphere, latitude, transport of heat by winds and ocean currents, amount of precipitation.
4. Two ways in shich heat is transported in the biosphere.
Winds and ocean currents.
5. A biologist recorded the bird species in her region. Then, she spotted a bird that was not supposed to live in the region. How might variations relate to this occurrence?.
Animal species show variations in their tolerances for different climatic conditions. The bird was probable just a bit beyond its usual range. Because the species varies in its tolerance, it could survive beyond its range.
